Analysis of the match between Azerbaijan and Iceland
In Group D of the UEFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Azerbaijan finds itself in a challenging group alongside France, Ukraine and Iceland. Currently, Azerbaijan sits bottom of the group with just one point from the matches played so far.
Although they still have a chance to advance, the likelihood of a surprise is very slim. In this round, Azerbaijan will host Iceland – a team currently in 3rd place with four points, three points behind second-placed Ukraine.
In terms of form, there isn’t much difference between the two sides. Azerbaijan have gone five games without a win, while Iceland have won only one of their last five matches.
At home, Azerbaijan’s record is not encouraging – two draws and three defeats in the last five games. On the flip side, Iceland have won only one of their last five away matches. With slightly superior squad depth and experience, Iceland are rated higher and are much more likely to walk away with all three points.
